Luxurious tropical beachfront villa suites on the island of Saint Lucia.
Villa Beach Cottages is located on the northwest coast of the spectacular island of Saint Lucia, 4 miles from Castries, the capital, 3 miles from G.F.L. Charles Airport and 4 miles from Rodney Bay, the island’s main dining, entertainment and shopping centre. Small, unique, and picturesque our 20 villa suites are nestled among the lush tropical gardens and framed by coconut trees on Choc Bay, just a few yards from the edge of the Caribbean Sea.
Poet D.K Jones, married at Villa Beach Cottages, wrote of the bay that ‘Apollo must have had a hand in its making’, and many have been moved to write or paint by its inimitable beauty. Villa Beach Cottages is proud of its creative associations and has the honour of dedicating three of its four specialty villa suites.
The Derek Walcott Suite, is a special deluxe one-bedroom villa suite named in honour of Sir Derek Walcott, the 1992 Noble Laureate for Literature, who spent his holidays as a guest on property over a period the fifteen years. It features a uniquely craved wooden four-poster king size bed, his watercolour paintings and a collection of his books and French doors opening out to the vista which inspired him. The Adelaide Rice Suite and the Edith Johnson Suite are also deluxe one bedroom villa suites named in honour of repeat guest of the Villa Beach Cottages. The Honeymoon Villa, a small, showpiece two-storey unit, has living/dining room and kitchen on the ground floor, and the bedroom and bathroom on the first floor. It features hardwood flooring, walls with Victorian wainscot paneling, and a romantic wooden spiral staircase leading to the bedroom, with French doors opening into the balcony and Caribbean Sea..
Our villa suites cannot get more “beachfront” than where they are located. A golden sandy beach kissed by the Caribbean Sea is literally feet from the villa suites. Walk hand in hand in both directions along Choc Bay and watch a glorious sunset. For relaxation beach chaise loungers, umbrellas, cushions, hammocks and beach towels are provided free of charge. There is also a beach bar and restaurant next to Villa Beach Cottages along the beach.

Visit La Dauphine Estate, our sister property for a free cocoa plantation tour. Then a short drive to a restaurant and enjoy a freshly prepared local lunch, after lunch they stop off at a secluded beach to relax or have a swim in the warm Caribbean Sea, before heading back to the Villa Beach Cottages. Soar, Hike or Glide through the rainforest. Guests can combine the Aerial Tram ride, with a short rugged hike and zip line course high up in the canopy of the majestic rainforest trees.
Villa Beach Cottages working with dive companies offers snorkeling tours and the full range of scuba diving courses and tours available. With its pristine and highly diverse coral reefs, steep walls, pinnacles and shipwrecks, St. Lucia offers our guest the ideal underwater adventure. They are able to visit shipwrecks in Anse Cochon, wall and or drift dive in Soufriere, night dive or simply beach dive at Anse Chastanet or Anse Cochon. All of these sites are found in our marine reserve areas stretching from Anse Cochon to Soufriere along the sheltered west coast of the island. Snorkeling tours are also available. Go beyond snorkeling by going snuba diving. Snuba is easily accessible to couples, families, children eight years and older, and seniors. Snuba divers breathe underwater by means of a 20-foot airline that is connected to a standard scuba tank. The tank is mounted on a raft on the surface that follows for their every movement. The airline allows our guest to tour underwater near the bottom, at mid-water or on the surface depending on the guest’s level of comfort. A certified Snuba diving professional guides every Snuba tour.
There are many spectacular hiking trails on the island. These include the Tet Paul Nature Trail, En Bas Saut, Edmund Forest Trail, Pigeon Island National Park and The Gros Piton Nature Trail. The Pitons (Gros Piton and Petit Piton) are the iconic symbols of St. Lucia and are part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Gros Piton Nature Trials starts with a drive along scenic west coast of the island through lush tropical vegetation onto the Fond Gens Libre, “village of the free people” community, to the welcome center or a boat ride to the beach at the base of the mountain. From these points, our guests are joined by a knowledgeable guide, who will lead them along the trail that winds around the mountain at a gradual gradient. They will enjoy panoramic vistas in every direction and see Petit Piton in the distance. Numerous sites, used by Brigands or black freedom fighters during the slave rebellion of 1748, can be seen including caves, tunnels, rock shelters, camps, signal stations, lookouts and landing sites. The first half of the trail is moderate and can be enjoyed by everyone, while the second half involves a steep accent to the summit suitable to the more adventurous hiker. Tropical birds flit in and around as the slope is ascended. These include the St. Lucian Wren, The St. Lucia Oriole, the Black Finch and the Red Neck Pigeon. There are dramatic changes in the vegetation, ranging from arid deciduous woodlands along the coast, to a broad middle zone rainforest and an upper mountain zone of elfin woodland and windswept dwarf forest. After this strenuous but exhilarating climb that takes about 4 hours there is a delightful lunch at a local Restaurant or on the beach before our guest return to the Villa Beach Cottages or La Dauphine Estate.
Kite surfing is a mixture of paragliding, wake-boarding, surfing and windsurfing. We work with two IKO (International Kite boarding Organization) affiliated centres that employ fully certified kite surfing instructors who guarantee our guest a safe start in the sport and the feeling that they are mastering it right from the beginning. Beginners can learn the basics in courses of 4 to 10 lessons. An introduction to power kite flying to get used to the kite’s power and the technique of handling it, and to manage a safe start and landing. Next a water-relaunchable kite, and doing various exercises with it on the beach, and practice body dragging on the water and finally a water start. Kite surfing can be learnt really quickly, because all the maneuvers can be simulated on dry land. It may look like a sport for top athletes, but in fact it’s easy to learn for anyone with average ability. Lessons and rentals at Cas En Bas beach, to the North of the island and the “Reef” located in Vieux Fort also provides this exciting sport on a perfect beach in the south coast of St. Lucia.
Horseback riding stables are located a few miles from the Villa Beach Cottages inside the old Beausejour Estate provides a wide range of healthy, gentle, Creole and Pedigreed horses to suit the taste of the most discriminating rider. It’s a fabulous sightseeing experience through banana plantations, across pasture lands, along a natural forest trail to Cas en Bas beach, one of the most picturesque, wild and deserted beaches of the St. Lucia’s Atlantic coastline. There’s a choice of three exciting tours ranging from 1 1/4 hours to a full 4 hours. The tours lasting more than two tours include swimming with the horses in the sea.
Villa Beach Cottages works with a deep sea fishing & whale watching company that has over 40 years’ experience in providing Sport Fishing and Pleasure Cruises. The company operates a fleet of Bertram motorboats 31, 35 & 38 ft. Penn International and Shimano gear. Boats continually trolling and chair rotation ensures a personal chance at a catch of sailfish, blue marlin, tuna, wahoo, dorado and many other fish. Experienced anglers and learners are welcome and bookings can be private or join a party. Half day (4 hours) and full day (8 hours) tours available or can be customized. They also do dolphin & whale watching tours on their 55 ft boat Free Willy. Spotted Dolphins, Pilot, Sperm and Orcas whales are seen in St. Lucian waters. The success rate of sightings is high (but not guaranteed) boats equipped with hydrophone to be able to hear the underwater sounds of these mammals. These and others tours like the Turtle Watching (Giant Leatherback) are available at the Villa Beach Cottages and can be charged to guest room bill.
All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) tours offers adventures where our guests are guided along designated tracks to explore untouched areas of St. Lucia including banana plantations and old growth rainforest. ATV tours are done passing through thousands of acres of lush tropical land with over 40 different fruit trees, tropical plants, flowers, rivers and a beach on the East coast of Saint Lucia. After orientation and bike selection, a guide will ride along with our guest for the tour. The three-hour tours included stunning mountain top views, mangroves, driving along the island’s unbelievably beautiful coastline, and panoramic sea and mountain views. An authentic island cuisine hosted by St. Lucia banana farmers is also included.
Mountain Biking tours have a home at the Anse Mamin Plantation in Soufriere. Amidst an abundance of tropical vegetation and historical remains dating back to the plantation’s 18th century beginnings, 12 miles of bike trails were carefully implemented to create a unique adventure location while at the same time preserving the plantation’s natural beauty and cultural heritage. The custom trails were designed to accommodate both the first time and the experienced rider on Cannondale suspension bikes. There is a skill course training area adjacent to the 5,000 square foot facility where riders can learn or brush up their off-road riding skills. For guests wanting a more challenging ride, there are intermediate level single-track trails. They are designed with the idea of a roller coaster ride in mind with lots of turns, ups and downs while among dense, lush vegetation on the specially made tracks. For those who practically live on a bike and have great lungs and legs, there is TINKER’S TRAIL. This challenging ride was designed with the help of world champion Tinker Juarez, of the Volvo-Cannondale racing team. Its steep uphill and tight switchbacks make it truly an advanced expert-level trail. At the top, guests can proclaim their reward by ringing Tinker’s Bell and taking in one of the most spectacular views imaginable.
